Today, Prosecutor General Dr. Péter Polt met in his office Peter Frank, Federal Prosecutor General of Germany. During their meeting held within the framework of their close working relationship, the Prosecutors General gave an overview of the anti-corruption activities of the two countries’ prosecution services. Dr. Péter Polt explained the notion of the so called “substitute private prosecution”. The Prosecutor General of Hungary and the Federal Prosecutor General of Germany also exchanged their views on their practical experiences regarding terrorism.
During the meeting, which was considered fruitful by both parties, Dr. Péter Polt and Peter Frank gave an overview on the anti-corruption activities of their respective prosecution services. In this context, they both highlighted the role of international cooperation.
At the meeting, the Prosecutor General of Hungary summarised the tasks imposed on the Prosecution Service of Hungary by the legislator through the new legal institution, the so-called "substitute private prosecution", introduced by the amendment of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The Prosecutor General of Germany and the Prosecutor General of Hungary also exchanged opinions on practical experiences in connection with terrorism.
The parties concluded that the relationship between the prosecutorial organizations of the two countries is close and excellent, there are regularly held high-level and expert meetings and the legal assistance relationship is continuous. Prosecutors of the two countries cooperate in several joint investigation teams (JIT).
