After the opening ceremony in the Parliament, the two-day-long Nadal conference continued in the newly renovated building of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences with the professional exchange between the participants.
During the afternoon, Prosecutors General held discussions on the challenges of online crime, inspired by presentations from, among others, Dr. Péter Polt, Prosecutor General of Hungary, and Andrés Ritter, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. The opportunities and difficulties introduced by digital tools in the justice system formed the next topic. The Prosecutors General of Finland, Austria, and Estonia, along with the Secretary General of the EJTN, highlighted specific areas of interest, fostering dialogue and exchange of views.
On the closing day of the NADAL conference, the Prosecutors General were introduced to the provisions of the new EU directive on environmental crime and to Eurojust's experiences in environmental crime cases. Presentations were delivered by Péter Csonka, Deputy Director at the European Commission, and José De La Mata, Vice President of Eurojust and National Member for Spain.
The successful conference was concluded by Dr. Péter Polt, Prosecutor General of Hungary, who expressed his gratitude for the decade of shared work and handed over the presidency to the Prosecutor General of Belgium.
