On 27th September, Dr. Péter Polt, Prosecutor General of Hungary met Tong Jianming, First Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China in his office.
The Prosecutor General gave a presentation giving an insight into the role, the powers and the constitutional status of the Prosecution Service in the Hungarian legal system. He emphasized the significance of cooperation with various international organizations and bilateral cooperation.
The two parties discussed the possibilities of further strengthening the mutual relations between the Prosecution Service of Hungary and the People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China, which both of them consider as of paramount importance.
In this context, making preparations for the renewal of the cooperation agreement between the prosecution services of the two countries, signed in 2015, was also a key issue on the meeting’s agenda.
In addition to meeting the Prosecutor General, the First Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China also visited the National Institute of Criminology, the academic research and training centre of the Prosecution Service and the Central Chief Prosecution Office of Investigation of Hungary.
